Stone Walls, Pathways and Stairways
The use of natural stone can be as simple as a few random outcroppings, or as complex as a retaining wall or a stone staircase.
Depending on the application, natural stone options vary. As it’s name implies, natural stone is a natural product and as with any natural products, there will be variations in color, texture and size. Other characteristics include natural fractures, fissures or even fossils!
Natural stone provides a very relaxed and natural feel to your landscape and the variations from one stone to the next, only serve to enhance their timeless natural beauty.
Natural Stone Stairways
Natural stone stairways are usually constructed with field stone outcroppings. The color and characteristics of each stone varies in size and texture. Another option is to use smooth pre-cut sandstone steps. The stone for individual projects will largely be determined by the current availability and the appropriate application.
Flagstone Paths
Flagstone is typically used for pathways. Flagstone also comes in many variations including limestone and sandstone. It is available in two options, naturally irregular or pre-cut. Irregular flagstone provides a natural “puzzle” like installation, whereas pre-cut and provides a slightly more formal and uniform installation.
Wall and Stair Combinations
Natural stone steps, as well as retaining walls provide a timeless beauty that cannot be emulated. Steps are cut from Arkansas field stone or from sandstone. They range from natural rustic to semi-formal that achieve your desired look. Let Hoot Landscape and Design create something special you will enjoy for years to come.
